LAMBETH COUNTRY SHOW SPECIAL: Superhoot present an inimitable mix of powerful Afro Funk and carnival sounds. YAABA FUNK bring their 21st century Hi-Life to the Hoot, while Muntchako are ready to get everyone fired up with their energetic blend of wild Latin rhythms.

YAABA FUNK have been an important part of the contemporary Afro scene in the UK since their formation in Brixton, London in 2006. The band have been playing their ‘21 Centrury Hi-Life’ around the world ever since. With two albums under their belt and a third due for release in 2018, the band is as accomplished in the studio as they are on stage. Taking influence from the likes of Ebo Taylor, Fela Kuti and James Brown, expect hard-hitting Afro drums and percussion, tight horns and psychedelic guitar grooves. “(If you) imagine Fela Kuti’s legendary Shrine club relocated to South London you’re a long way to understanding the irresistible appeal of this energetic collective” – Womad
MUNTCHAKO (Mundiais Tchatchatchas Nocauteadores, a.k.a. ‘World Cha-Cha-Cha Knockouts’) have a truly global sound, drawing on the combined international experience of its members. Fusing elements of Brazilian forro, Argentine tango and Afro-Colombian styles with ska, rock, funk and electronics, the wild three-piece from Brazil’s insane capital city bring a huge energy that sounds like a Brazilian fusion of Buraka Som Sistema, Gotan Project and The Comet is Coming.
SAULO DUARTE is a musician and composer from the Northern Brazilian state of Pará. Now based in São Paulo his music combines regional and urban influences – a touch of Carimbó, a touch of Guitarrada and plenty of soul.
DJ EMILY DUST, on a roll fresh from gigs out in Brasil and Ghana plus a brand new show on Soho Radio she’ll be spinning beats from around the world, from Dancehall to Afrobeats and global bass
