Merciful presents THEY SAY JUMP, celebrating the release of their latest EP featuring guests Hollie Cook & Horseman and production from Ed West. Characterised by a sensual and melodic blend of latin brass sections, reggae tones and drum ‘n’ bass rhythms, They Say Jump’s newest release is a tonic of genres and inspirations. Pulling influences from the revolutionary reggae of Bob Marley, to the dicey rhythms of ska pioneers like Prince Buster, THEY SAY JUMP are readymade for the dance floor.
WAAJU, encapsulating influences from Africa, South America & beyond, the band delves deeper to leave behind preconception & promote forces largely unexplored in a Western context. Citing the rich history of Malian music as centrepiece, WAAJU presents the vision of drummer & percussionist Ben Brown which draws from the exceptional spirit of the likes of Ali Farka Toure, Oumou Sangare, Tinariwen & Baba Sissoko.
BARNACLES, horn heavy, groove based quintet combine their energy and intensity of rhythms with spontaneity and freedom. Drums, baritone sax, trombone and two tenor saxes journey into the mind of band leader, composer and saxophonist Leroy Horns. Leroy’s pieces that act as springboards launching BARNACLES on explorations that carry the listener to somewhere different each time.
DJ SNUFFONE & MC HONEYBROWN, classic and fresh jazzwize dubwise streetfunk afrobeats dancehall hip hop jungle and bass heavy sound system rhythms.
