Hootananny songwriters and wordsmiths have a sizzling line up for September. ZACH JOHNSON will be back after wowing us earlier in the year with his rich vocals and his hugely melodic songs.
We are also extremely excited to welcome for the first time at Hootananny Songwriting and wordsmith PHILIPPA ZAWE. Zawe is a Birmingham based singer-songwriter. Her songs are stories of her experiences, letters to loved ones and questions to whoever is listening. They are rooted in the genre of Folk with an infusion of Soul. Her inspirations vary from the likes of Otis Redding, Joan Amatarding, Rachel Sermanni and Nathaniel Rateliff.
In September 2017 PHILIPPA ZAWE released her debut EP Road of Hope; a tale of loss, grief and hope found along the way.
Having recently formed a band she now has a much fuller sound which has encouraged her to push boundaries and be more radical. The fruits of this collaboration can be heard in a second EP to be released in May 2018.
And our band will be those wonderful sisters with their spine tingling harmonies, their sassy stage presence and their songs that seem to find their way into your veins! Yes XYLAROO are back.
