THE CORRESPONDENTS + DAT BRASS + CHAINSKA BRASSIKA + DJ FIZZY GILLESPIE
THE place to sign off 2017 in festival style with a huge NYE party with a full fat line up of live acts and DJs. As Hoots celebrates it’s 10th anniversary year it seems appropriate to invite one of our favourite acts over the years to headline – THE CORRESPONDENTS. The group are also celebrating a decade in the game and since 2007 they have taken their hi-octane genre-blending dance music from house parties to festival main stages and established themselves as one of the best live acts in the UK.
Combined with the world famous Hootananny Brixton’s super fun indoor outdoor set up with giant beer garden and delicious food stalls. Throw in two more exciting live acts including a midnight brass band countdown and full live set from the mighty Dat Brass and one more very special guest to be announced plus festival favourite DJ Fizzy Gillespie and more to keep you jumping all night plus confetti canons, special surprises and all is set for the biggest and baddest party of the year!
Consisting of singer Mr Bruce, and producer Chucks – Both growing up in South London, they formed in 2007 and within two years had taken their hi-octane genre-blending dance music from house parties to festival main stages. The show that quickly established the duo as one of the best live acts in the UK has Mr Bruce assuming the look of a monochrome matador, singing with force, scatting at speed and dancing like his life depends on it while Chucks takes the audience on a journey through a multitude of genres from jazz and blues to the nether regions of electro and drum n bass.
This high energy 9 piece meld the funky melodies of hard-hitting brass with the hip-hop beats of live drums and rap. The crew from North London serve up a healthy dose of high-grade originals, peppered with sick solos from top jazz cats, as well as giving some old school classics a heavy brass makeover.
Over the last 2 years, the boys have plied their trade with gigs at The Garage, Scala & The Blues Kitchen, as well as rocking stages at Boomtown, Bestival, The Great Escape, London Remixed Festival and Funk & Soul Weekender. Playing alongside artists such as Everything Everything, Youngblood Brass Band, Dub FX, Mr Woodnote & even Super Hans has cultivated an extensive and energetic repertoire. They have released their debut full length album, Half-Time, packed full of red hot verse and fat horn lines, on Foundry Records this year.
Contagious horn driven ska anthems!
This mischievous rabble from London have been causing mischief since school, spreading their contagious horn driven ska anthems across the UK, mainland Europe and beyond.
On 24th November 2017 will see the band release their second LP Harry J Business, recorded at Harry J Studios in Kingston, Jamaica with double Grammy award winning producer Stephen Stewart. Extensive tours of the UK and Europe are planned plus a string of festival performances to promote the record. The official video for the debut single from the LP “Don’t You Try” is out now, featuring reggae legend Toots Hibbert of Toots & The Maytals.
