CONTINENTAL DRIFTS presents KOSMO SOUND, who saw daylight in late summer of 2016 when two Ghent based musicians Matters Geernaert and Marius Couvreur found one another in the concept of a groovy and danceable dub-based creation. After a few jam sessions and brainstorms the search was open for other like minded musicians. Both on the electric guitar, jazzmen Cyriel Vandenabeele and Edmund Laureate were welcomed together with Bos Debusscher on keyboard and Ambroos De Schemer on saxophone. The result is a mixture of tight dubby grooves, jazzy guitarlicks, story telling saxophone melodies and spaced out effects, making it a highly danceable and compelling musical experience.
Duo CONCRETE DISCO, bring the raw energy of a live band to the world of
electronic music. Combining the beats and bass of dance music with the glitches
of electronic music and a punk sensibility, the band have forged an original and
powerful sound. As a live act, the trio have an infectious energy which spills
over into their recordings and never fails to get hearts pumping and feet
CHIMINYO, a ferocious one-man show with a very unique performance aspect. Taking mankind’s first instrument and linking it to the most contemporary, the drum and the laptop, he uses the new and the old to search for what it is that makes us move. With each crash of the cymbal or thump of the kick drum a cascade of elevating electronic sounds are triggered and generated by Chiminyo’s self-designed software. This innovative set up allows him to be in complete control, freeing him from all loops, click-tracks and backing tracks. Every synth, sample and sound effect is performed live, in real time. The result is a plethora of era-spanning dance-scapes featuring ethereal arpeggios, thumping acid bass lines and heavy beats.
COUNT BASSY, from Latin to Afro via Hip-Hop, Drum’n’Bass and beyond, Count Bassy is never short of beats to make you move your feet! Shaking dancefloors from Glastonbury to Bestival and in clubs across London, his sets are all about good vibes and big tunes, with a healthy dose of bass of course.
