FRUIT PALACE presents AGBEKO, high-octane afro-rock-funk-psych spectacular from Manchester. AGBEKO effortlessly draw inspiration from the golden age of 1970s’ Nigerian, Ghanaian and Ethiopian dancefloors and deliver it through the filter of 11 young twenty-somethings who grew up on rock, funk and jazz. Expect punchy horns, choppy guitars and wailing organs, all underpinned by a powerful groove and infectious enthusiasm guaranteed to make you dance. Their recent single Leaders of the Free World 7” is out now on Stutter & Twitch records.
FOOTSHOOTER (Live), the moniker of London based producer, DJ and musician
Barney Whittaker. His style blends skippy, broken rhythms with jazz-infused
textures, galactic synths and live instrumentation to create an organic, rich
sound. He frequently collaborates with poets, vocalists and musicians including
Brother Portrait (Steam Down), Izzy Risk, Slam the Poet, And Is Phi exploring
different tones and moods. Along with the vocalists listed above, this special live set will feature live drums, guitar and Jack Stephenson-Oliver on keys (Vels Trio).
FOOTSHOOTER’s recent release, Technicolour Nights (out on Yam Records) has
been supported by Giles Peterson on BBC6 Music, among others. Whilst his previous record, Strange Days EP (released on Famous Friends), gained regular plays on NTS, Balamii, WorldWide FM and, most recently, by Bonobo in his NYC
Boiler Room set.
Formed in 2016 while busking on the streets of Bristol SNAZZBACK have spent the last 2 years forging their unique sound which effortlessly blends jazz, afrobeat, hip-hop and electronica into a cosmic melting pot. Drawing inspiration from their comrades in the UK jazz revival SNAZZBACK have been playing relentlessly across the UK leaving thrilled audiences in their wake. Whilst the considered arrangements of their debut album ‘Hedge’ demonstrate their musical diligence, fiery improvisation remains at the heart of the band’s ethos and their high energy live shows have helped build their reputation as one of the most exciting acts to come out of Bristol’s burgeoning music scene.
Over the last 10 years TOM EXCELL has established himself as an eclectic producer of jazz, world, reggae, hip hop, folk and electronic records on labels such as Soundway Records, Tru Thoughts and Easy Star Records to name a few. He’s the composer, producer, guitarist and percussionist for his own projects Nubiyan Twist, Onipa (alongside KOG) and Chief Rockas as well as producing and composing for many other artists. 

Excell’s productions have made a name for themselves with support from radio DJ’s such as Giles Peterson, David Rodigan, Craig Charls and Huey Morgan, and also critical acclaim from publications such as The Guardian, The independent, Mojo, Clash and Songlines magazine. Come get down to Excell’s dancefloor centric selections spanning genres and continents to make you move.
